BANGKOK: An American tourist was allegedly stabbed to death by three Thai musicians after he refused to stop singing at a bar in a popular tourist resort.
Bobby Ray Carter, 51, died after he was stabbed twice in the chest while his son Adam, 27, suffered a stab wound to his arm, during a fight with members of the house band from the Longhorn Saloon early yesterday at Ao Nang beach in Krabi.
Police said the three musicians were arrested at the scene and confessed to stabbing the Americans.
Woman held for Eid greeting
KUALA LUMPUR: Police yesterday arrested a woman who angered Muslims by posting a video greeting for the Eid Al Fitr holiday that featured her dogs.
Dog trainer Maznah Yusof is being investigated for “causing disharmony on grounds of religion”, lawyer Latheefa Koya said, an offence punishable by up to five years in jail in Muslim-majority Malaysia.
The video shows Maznah bathing and feeding three dogs as the Muslim call to prayer sounds in the background.
Dogs are viewed as unclean in Islam.
Sayyaf releases captive clerk
ZAMBOANGA CITY: Abu Sayyaf gunmen released unharmed its captive male clerk in downtown Jolo, Sulu, yesterday after the family reportedly paid ransom, a military official said.
Colonel Jose Joriel Cenabre, commander of the 2nd Marine Brigade and Task Force Sulu, said Alrashid Maha Rojas was released by his captors near the government wharf in Jolo.
