The Fashion Promotion Class at Virginia Commonwealth University School of the Arts in Qatar (VCUarts Qatar) will be holding an exhibition on the versatile fabric khadi from May 2-5.
Being held in collaboration with the Embassy of India, Doha, the exhibition will be on display at Room 390iii, with an opening reception taking place today evening, from 4-7pm.
The Fashion Promotion Class, which includes students from the graphic design and fashion design programs at VCUarts Qatar, as well as students from Northwestern University in Qatar, have rebranded khadi, is handspun, hand-woven natural fiber cloth from India, as a special class project.
The textile is becoming popular with young designers from across India and the rest of South Asia because it is sustainable, environmentally friendly, robust, and adaptable.
The exhibition is free and open to public from 11am to 6pm.
The school has invited public to see the students’ creative processes and outcomes.
