Doha: Five teams will be competing in the AFC Under-19 Championship qualifiers that will take place from October 4 until 12 in Doha, the Qatar Football Association (QFA) announced yesterday.
The teams, placed in Group A who will be competing are Uzbekistan, Qatar, India, Turkmenistan, and Nepal. The winner of Group A along with the winners of the other groups, five from West zone and four from East will play in the October 2014 finals along with six best placed sides and hosts Myanmar.
The host country, Qatar will play their first match against India on October 4 at 4:30pm at Al Arabi Sports Club.
Khalid Al Kuwari (pictured), Director of Marketing and Communications of QFA, said: “As Qatar is the host country for the AFC U-19 Championship Qualifiers, QFA is pleased to announce that all preparations for this championship have come to an end and we are more than ready to host these significant qualifying matches. We are eager to witness the upcoming matches and wish everyone good luck.”
Meanwhile, the Indian team have arrived in Doha for the tournament. India drew 1-1 with Goa Pro-League outfit SESA Goa in their latest friendly match.
