DOHA: The Supreme Education Council (SEC) has implemented E-education in 50 schools this year, after a trial period in several schools. The aim of this project is to introduce technology in education and improve quality of teaching.

All the necessary requirements for the implementation of these programmes have been already fulfilled by the Supreme Education Council. The objective of this process is to improve the quality of education.

Khalid Al Suwaidi, Director of Independent School, said that introducing these programmes makes the class more active in the education process, among other things, because the students research on the Internet. It makes them acquire more skills and problem solving methods.

This also makes the teachers improve their performance in planning and teaching with technologies and it helps find contents and teaching aid materials. It supports communication between parents and schools and improves students’ achievements as well, because they keep in touch with their teachers, inside and outside school.  There is also the possibility to follow up. This is in addition to other skills that students acquire thanks to E-education such as communicating with a wider group of people and taking part in discussions through social media or others.

Another advantage is that some administrative notes of the teachers are minimised. Al Suwaidi insisted that it is good to introduce E-education in schools because it is the future of education.
