Doha: The Minister of Environment H E Ahmed Amer Mohamed Al Humaidi and other officials of the ministry held a meeting with the managing committee of Indian Cultural Centre (ICC).
As part of its environmental commitment to the universe, ICC wants to move ahead with its action plans with cooperation and support of the government.
The committee briefed the Minister on its immediate tasks related to the environment which will be taken up by the Indian community prior to Qatar National Environment Day on February 26.
The Minister praised the initiatives and assured the committee of full support for the initiatives.
One of the tasks is an awareness and competition programme on environment challenges. It will be carried out by affiliated organisations of ICC (96 with around 45,000 community members) for six weeks starting from the first week of January.
The grand finale will feature the presentation of the Ambassador’s Rolling Trophy on February 26.
This programme will be conducted by ICC under the aegis of the Indian embassy.
ICC has prepared modalities and details of the awareness programme and competition.
It has also arranged a meeting with affiliated organisation which will participate and contribute to the Indian community’s endeavour.
The programme begins today at Ashoka Hall, ICC at 7pm. It will be inaugurated by the ICC president who will highlight the initiatives.
Officials from the ministry and the embassy will also address the gathering. ICC vice-president will make a Power- point presentation on the awareness and competition programme for the affiliated organisations, followed by a question-answer session. The head of HSE will propose a vote of thank, followed by dinner. The Peninsula
