The 4th Toyota Kid’s Under 16 Rapid Chess Tournament conducted by Abdullah Abdulghani & Bros Co (AAB) in cooperation with the Qatar Chess Association (QCA) saw 114 kids from different schools in Qatar and the region taking part. The first two days of the competition, which was open to youth from 6-16 years, was held at Crowne Plaza Hotel and the finals and award ceremony were held at the AAB Toyota Showroom on May 2.
Osama Al Al Abdulghani, AAB’S Chairman, along with Khalifa Al Hitmi, QCA President, Mohammed Al Medhaiki, QCA Secretary General, and Hamad Al Tamimi, QCA Executive Director, handed over the awards to the winners. This year’s winners are Aseel Odeh, champion; Adnan Habeb, first place and Ghanem Al Shamari, second place. Aseel is the first girl to win this tournament.
Osama Al Abdulghani, commented during the ceremony: “AAB has been supportive of activities that promote and enhance the critical and analytical thinking of the youth. We believe that providing them an avenue to develop this skill through Chess is a testimony of our commitment.”The Peninsula
