Doha: Qatar MICE Development Institute (QMDI), a joint venture with Qatar Foundation for Education, Science and Community Development (QF), is inviting families and friends to the first Mini-Golf For Everyone to promote sports, integration and well-being in the community.
The event today and tomorrow will be held on a bespoke nine-hole course in Katara Cultural Village opposite the amphitheatre between 3pm and 7pm.
The initiative is led by local sports figure Yasmian Al Sharshani and managed by QMDI.
Yasmian is the first Qatari professional golfer to play in local and international tournaments and acts as an ambassador to encourage golf in Qatar.
Hamad bin Khalifa Al Naser, Chairman and CEO, QMDI, said, “QMDI’s platinum sponsorship of the event aims to promote sports in Qatar and support the local community.
“QMDI is consistent with QF’s mission to contribute to the economic, social, educational and human development nationally.
“As we continue to further support Qatar’s position as a global point for business tourism, it is important we also invest our resources and expertise to make a positive impact locally.”
Al Sharshani said, “Encouraging Qataris and the local community to be more active and involved in sports is close to my heart. The open initiative is part of Qatar’s journey towards National Vision 2030 and for the benefit our country and people.”
Schools and universities will attend the event alongside advocates of sports, including Qatar Sport Police Federation and Qatar Paralympic Federation.
This is the first such event and will be varied to engage adults and children of all ages and abilities in educational, cultural and sporting activities.
The initiative is united with Emir H H Sheikh Tamim bin Hamad Al Thani and his encouragement and vision for ‘Sports for All.’
Miniature golf, also known as mini-golf or crazy golf, focuses on putting. It is played on courses consisting of a short series of holes with artificial obstacles such as tunnels/tubes, ramps, concrete/metal/fiberglass forms and moving obstacles such as windmills.
