Minister discusses China ties

The Assistant Foreign Minister for Services Affairs Rashid bin Khalifa Al Khalifa holding talks with China’s special envoy for the Middle East Wu Sike (centre) and Ambassador Gao Youzhens, in Doha yesterday.

Doha: Rashid bin Khalifa Al Khalifa, the Assistant Foreign Minister for Services Affairs, met yesterday Wu Sike, the Chinese special envoy for the Middle East, and his delegation.

During the meeting, the two sides discussed bilateral relations and means of bolstering and promoting them. The meeting was attended by a number of foreign ministry officials.

The Chinese special envoy for the Middle East is now on a tour of the region which took him earlier to Bahrain where he met with Crown Prince and Deputy Supreme Commander and Deputy Prime Minister Prince Salman bin Hamad Al Khalifa.

  Meanwhile, Qatar Olympic Committee Secretary General H E Sheikh Saoud bin Abdulrahman Al Thani met Yemen’s Minister of Youth and Sports Muamar Al Iriani and the delegation accompanying him.

The two sides reviewed aspects of cooperation in sports and means of boosting and developing them. Sheikh Saoud expressed QOC’s readiness to exchange expertise between the two countries in the fields of training and sporting events. The Yemeni minister expressed pleasure at visiting Doha, hailing the sports renaissance in Qatar. QNA
