The ‘For Qatar’ National Volunteering Campaign has been developed to help strengthen Qatar’s response to the COVID-19 outbreak. The Government Communications Office (GCO) has said that the responsibilities of the volunteers include providing support in medical and allied health practice, public health awareness, and in logistics.

The Office further said that the campaign has been organised to ease the strain on Qatar’s resources during coronavirus (Covid-19) outbreak.
In a press conference held recently, spokesperson of the Supreme Committee for Crisis Management, H E Lolwah bint Rashid bin Mohammed Al Khater revealed that the number of volunteers with the MoPH, Qatar Charity and Qatar Red Crescent had reached approximately 35,000, pointing out that MoPH is now working with the relevant authorities to distribute volunteers according to the need and expertise.
The GCO pointed out that the volunteers must meet the criteria which include being a Qatar resident, and have a Qatar ID. The volunteer must be between 20 and 45 years of age, and medically-fit with no history of an chronic illness.
“Over the 12 weeks programme, volunteers will need to be available for at least 14 days, over eight-hour periods from the end of March to the end of June,” it said.
The number of Qatari Red Crescent volunteers who support health institutions to fight the pandemic has reached more than 15,000 volunteers.
Also, there are about 83 volunteers from Qatar Red Crescent managing quarantine places in collaboration with authorities concerned to provide psychological support and health education, said Qatar Red Crescent.
In cooperation with the MoPH, the Qatari Red Crescent has allocated teams for psychological support to patients at the health isolation headquarters in the country. It also provided 24 hour training courses in more than three languages.
