Uzbek interim leader wins presidency with 88.6% of vote: official results

Bishkek, Kyrgyzstan: Uzbekistan's interim leader Shavkat Mirziyoyev has won a landslide victory to become the country's second-ever president following the death of long-reigning strongman Islam Karimov, official results said Monday. 

According to the Central Election Commission, Mirziyoyev scooped 88.6% of the vote after a preliminary count in this central Asian country which has a population of 32 million.
