In recent years, roundabouts have been demolished and converted into intersections to ease traffic congestion, which almost every motorist has to contend with on Doha’s streets.
The latest announcement by Ashghal on replacing all roundabouts on the Corniche with intersections, with the exception of the Sheraton roundabout, comes as a big relief for motorists as this will lead to smoother flow of traffic.
Some, however, say these roundabouts are monuments of sorts, and by tearing them down the city will lose some of its familiar and beautiful landmarks.
