Doha, Qatar: The Center for Empowerment and Care of the Elderly (Ehsan) has launched a Quran competition for valued elderly, as part of its efforts to provide specialised religious, cultural and social programmes that enhance their quality of life and strengthen their active participation in society.

The initiative aims to encourage valued elderly to engage in correct Quran recitation, memorisation and reflection, while providing an opportunity for positive competition in a spiritual environment that strengthens their connection with the Holy Quran.

The centre said the competition reflects the importance it attaches to programmes tailored to the interests and needs of valued elderly, while providing opportunities for them to participate in religious and community activities and highlighting outstanding participants and recognising their achievements.

The competition will be conducted according to approved conditions, regulations and judging criteria designed to ensure fairness, transparency and equal opportunities among participants.

A specialised panel of qualified judges will assess participants according to precise standards covering memorisation accuracy, correct recitation, rules of Quranic recitation (Tajweed) and overall performance.

The centre said registration will open to eligible participants in accordance with the announced requirements and regulations, encouraging those interested to register and familiarise themselves with the competition requirements.

The Quran competition forms part of Ehsan’s wider programmes and activities aimed at supporting the spiritual and psychological wellbeing of valued elderly and creating interactive spaces that enrich their lives and strengthen their connections with the wider community.

The centre emphasised that the initiative reflects its commitment to recognising the experience and capabilities of valued elderly and appreciating their contributions and role in society.

Ehsan expressed hope for broad participation in the competition, praying that it would strengthen participants’ connection with the Holy Quran, promote its values and principles, and bring them success and reward.
