DOHA: Maersk Oil will showcase its technical energy solutions at the International Petroleum Technology Conference (IPTC), December 6-9, as Principal Sponsor and exhibitor of the industry event, hosted by partners Qatar Petroleum.
The IPTC’s return to Doha marks the continued importance of Qatar as a hub for sharing knowledge and expertise in oil and gas.
Lewis Affleck, Managing Director, Maersk Oil Qatar (MOQ) said: “Maersk Oil has built an international reputation for turning marginal fields into commercial successes, such as Qatar’s Al Shaheen field, which was originally deemed uneconomic for development and today produces 40 percent of the nation’s oil. It’s a challenging time for our industry currently, yet as an agile, innovative and cost-efficient organisation we continue to deliver the best technical solutions and the greatest value to our partners. So we are pleased to have the opportunity to share our expertise at this forum.”
Maersk Oil’s Chief Financial Officer, Graham Talbert will also sharing insight into how the company is creating value, despite a low oil price environment, as a speaker in the ‘Investing in energy and optimising costs for the long term’ session.
Despite the economic downturn, as part of the Maersk Group, one of the world’s largest conglomerates, Maersk Oil is currently pursuing profitable, long term growth by investing in new acquisitions.
Maersk Oil has 12 technical presentations within the IPTC technical programme, several of which are co-authored by Maersk Oil Qatar and QP and which highlight the successful technologies and approaches used to develop Qatar’s Al Shaheen field, one of the world’s most complex.
