Doha, Qatar: The 61st Annual School Quran Memorisation Competition, hosted by the Department of Religious Advocacy and Guidance at the Ministry of Awqaf and Islamic Affairs in partnership with the Ministry of Education and Higher Education, continues its examination phase.

Over 24,000 students, from kindergarten to secondary levels across Qatar’s schools, are participating. The assessments, set to conclude on May 8, are supported by 97 examination committees for male and female students, strategically distributed nationwide to ensure accessibility.

At Al Maha Academy for Boys, 250 students from kindergarten through secondary levels joined this year’s competition. A dedicated Ministry team, including three examination panels, administrative supervisors, and technical staff, oversaw the testing process at the academy. During a site visit to review the examinations, Muadh Al-Qasimi, a member of the competition’s organising committee and Head of Guidance and Counseling at the Department of Religious Advocacy, reaffirmed the Ministry’s commitment to conducting the event annually with exceptional organisational and administrative standards. He highlighted a key feature of this edition: The inclusion of preliminary and kindergarten categories, allowing students to engage in Quran memorisation from early childhood through secondary school.  This initiative underscores the Ministry’s focus on nurturing Quranic engagement across all age groups.
