Doha, Qatar: The Ministry of Municipality said it has completed 20,867 fumigation requests in one week with the aim of providing a safe and clean environment that contributes to improving quality of life in Qatar.
The Ministry in a social media post stated that it is committed to enhancing public health and curbing the spread of insects, as various municipalities in the country continue to implement intensive campaigns to combat insects.
It added that 13,667 requests were made through the "Oun" app, 6,774 requests via unified call center and 426 requests via the Ministry’s website.
The highest number of requests came from Al Rayyan Municipality (5,527 requests), followed by Doha Municipality (4,905 requests) and Umm Salal Municipality (3,189 requests).
The Ministry represented by the Service Affairs Department said its cleaning section uses several types of control methods, including chemical and biological control, as well as safe pesticides to protect public health and the environment.
To prevent mosquitoes, the Ministry advised the public to close windows and doors before sunset, ensure window screens are in good condition, and wear clothing that covers most of the body to reduce the risk of bites.
It also urged the public to eliminate or cover stagnant water by preventing any leaks from water tanks, remove water collected from decorative plant stands and air conditioners, manage drinking water for animals and birds.
The Ministry renewed its commitment to continuous spraying campaigns and ongoing awareness efforts, implementing preventive spraying campaigns by municipalities, community awareness to limit the spread of insects
