Madhya Pradesh: A 20-year-old boy from Madhya Pradesh, India who gained a followership on social media for cleaning an entire river on his own has supposedly received a work offer from the Netherlands, news agency WION reported.
Surendra Singh Choudhary went viral online after he began documenting his efforts to clear the plastic-choked stretches of India’s Ajnar River.
The student’s solo effort in helping clean up the pollution afflicted on the river began on January 26, India’s republic day, and heavily focused on clearing “plastics, debris, and stubborn waste to combat river pollution,” the WION report added.
“As a lone student he spent his own savings and three months to reverse years of ecological neglect on the Ajna River,” the report continued.
His efforts were soon noticed by the local government, culminating in the boy meeting the Madhya Pradesh chief minister at his office, where he was honoured for his work and thanked for “sending a powerful message to society.”
The local government had also reportedly stepped in to support the 20-year-old’s efforts, as mentioned on WION.
