The “Traditional and Contemporary Art of Uzbekistan” exhibition at Katara offers a slice of the rich culture of Central Asia’s most populous country, made up of diverse ethnic groups.
The exhibition, which runs until June 16 at Katara Building 13, features exceptional calligraphic and miniature works, beautiful and colourful ethnographic costumes, contemporary paintings and decorative arts.
One of the interesting sections in the expo is titled “Generations Pass, Traditions Remain”, which includes a series of images that mirror the succession of generations and veneration for tradition. Other highlights of the expo are a copy of the oldest Quran in the world and paintings by contemporary artists who played a crucial role in the development of the Uzbek school of painting.
