Qatar Scientific Club to hold workshops

Doha: Qatar Scientific Club (QSC) will hold today a two-week programme on intellectual property by organising a variety of workshops entitled ‘intellectual property and patents’ at QSC premises.
Held in collaboration with Office of Intellectual Property Rights at the Ministry of Economy and Commerce, the first workshop will focus on intellectual property and patents, while the second will address national laws and international conventions on intellectual property between legislation and implementation. The third one will tackle the requirements for obtaining and granting a patent, while the last workshop will shed light on the importance of protecting an invention.
The QSC secretary Hassan Abdullah Al Abdullah stressed the need to protect inventors’ rights from being abused, without prior consent, and to subject products to legal accountability in the event of damage, pointing to the economic significance of this important issue to ensure that inventor or owner of a patent and trademark or copyright benefit from their work and investment.
He highlighted the importance of the workshops in discussing issues pertaining to intellectual property and patents.
