DOHA: A total of 38,214 cases were filed in different courts in Qatar in 2011 and majority of them - 94 percent - were misdemeanours, according to latest data released by the Qatar Statistics Authority (QSA).
The number of people injured in road accidents in Qatar rose by 13 percent in 2011, compared to the previous year, according to the annual statistical abstract on security and judiciary, issued in collaboration with the Supreme Judiciary Council, the Ministry of Interior, and the Public Prosecution
A total of 5,424 injuries caused by road accidents were recorded in 2011, said the report. Injuries leading to death amounted to four percent of the total injuries.
The number of Qataris injured in traffic accidents was 1,122, and the proportion of injuries leading to death among Qataris accounted for 4.3 percent of total Qataris injured in accidents.
