DOHA: The fish cleaning area in the Central Fish Market will soon be replaced by a new facility that is expected to be more hygienic.
A new hall has been allocated in the market for cleaning fish, with advanced facilities, a local Arabic daily reported yesterday, quoting a letter sent by the Ministry of Municipality and Urban Planning.
The reply was in response to an earlier report carried by the daily about crowding and unhealthy conditions in the existing facility.
The new area will be managed by a private company that is required to offer the service at QR1 per one kilogram of fish.
The Ministry will soon issue a tender to select the company, said the daily.
