Interior Ministry pavilion exhibits new technologies

DOHA: The Ministry of Interior has made its presence significant at the Milipol 2012 by showcasing its new services and products. The ministry has taken a large pavilion with a prominent presence of the Internal Security Force (Lekhwiya) exhibiting new technologies and services.

The Information and System Department at the ministry is offering some of its services at its pavilion at the Milipol 2012 such as providing multi-featured smart cards, which could be obtained by nationals and the expatriates.

“Since its launch many people are using it as 50 services could be obtained by a smart card,” said Colonel Abdulrahman Ali Al Malki, Assistant Director, Information System Department, Ministry of Interior. Smart cards could be used with smart phones through ‘Metrash 2’ for services such as resident permits, traffic services and to issue exit permits. 

The general administration of public security, criminal evidences and information department is showcasing a number of their new machines. The Terminal Figure Print Developer (TFD 2) is one among the new machines used at the Ministry. It would help the officers to enhance figure prints without spoiling or damaging the documents, explained Lt Hassan Ibrahim Al Mannai, Crime Scene Officer. 

Panorama cameras specialised equipment that captures images with elongated fields of view used to take photos of crime sites as well as other locations is special equipment showcased. 

Biometric machine used for capturing images from surveillance cameras without making any damage to the original visuals equipments used get data from mobile phones are also exhibited by the Ministry of Interior.  “These equipment are used in fact finding at crime scenes and also to get general information if needed for any investigation,” said Lt Al Mannai.
