La Trinidad, Benguet: Cordillera police’s stepped up drive against wanted criminals in the region netted nine suspects in three days.
Since Sunday, nine murder suspects andfour other suspects in frustrated murder, rape and other crimes in Abra, Benguet and Mountain Province were arrested.
Cordillera police director Chief Superintendent Benjamin Magalong said policemen arrested suspects Hermes Midlang Zapata, Isidro Banayos Buyao, Josue Baula Zapata, Pepito Tiglac Cammagay, Bobby Benwagen Cabrera, and Jun Benwagen Cabrera, all from Tineg town in Abra. The suspects are facing murder charges.
Arson suspect Antero Olingan Simangen, and frustrated murder and arson suspect Tony Baula Zapata, were also arrested on Monday.
The intervention of Tineg town Mayor Edwin Crisologo helped in the arrest of the suspects.
Meanwhile, robbery and theft suspect Franklin Gacilan, was nabbed by Tayum town, Abra police. In Benguet, the province’s third most wanted criminal also fell Monday when the Benguet police tracker team nabbed frustrated murder suspect Teodoro Himlatan Pawinge alias “Buslot” in Bangao, Buguias, Benguet.
On Tuesday, police in Kabayan town, Benguet also nabbed 25-year-old Norlan Balad, who was wanted in Baguio City for physical injuries, while Mankayan town policemen arrested 33-year-old farmer Edgar Mariano, who was being hunted for theft and reckless imprudence that led to damages to property in the town.
The next day, Paracelis town, Mt Province policemen arrested 29-year-old Ronie Pigan, who is facing a rape case.
Two days earlier, Magalong said, Mt Province policemen cornered housekeeper Maureen Subang, who was charged with child abuse, in Paracelis town.
All the arrested suspects were turned over to the courts of jurisdiction to face the charges, Magalong said.
