CEBU CITY: Anti-narcotics agents arrested a suspected large-scale pusher in Cebu City during a buy-bust operation, seizing an estimated P400,000 worth of methamphetamine hydrochloride, locally known as shabu, the Philippine Drug Enforcement Agency said yesterday.
PDEA director general Arturo Cacdac Jr said operatives confiscated 129 plastic sachets of shabu weighing approximately 55gms from 24-year-old Gerald Joy Baguio in Sitio Hawud, Barangay Bulacao, Talisay City, Cebu.
Cacdac said the sting operation transpired last November 7 around 3:15am when an undercover PDEA agent met and bought the drugs from Baguio.
After receiving the buy-bust money in exchange for the illegal drug, authorities immediately arrested Baguio. Assorted drug paraphernalia and cash deposit slips were also recovered from him, Cacdac added.
“We had him under surveillance for some time because of his involvement in illegal drug activities in Talisay City. Pushers like Baguio, are classified from the bottom bracket (street-level) up to the higher level where he is now. Fortunately, we caught him as a level one pusher,” Cacdac said.
