DOHA: The Wanasa Entertainment City at the Doha Exhibition Centre witnessed 20,000 footfalls on the first day of Eid, exceeding expectations of the organisers.
Visitors, mainly families, flocked to the centre not only to shop at about 150 stalls from 30 countries but sample some of the 25 games catering for all sections of society.
For QR5 children can enjoy games, including Electric Battery Cars, Jolly Bee, Happy Swinger, Dancing Seagull and Crazy Train Wave.
Bungee Jumping, Dragon On Trailer, Samba Balloon, Jumping Star Ride, Pirates Train, Carousel, Mini Galleon-Small Ship, Monster World and Glass House cater for the family, costing QR10 for each ride.
Big rides include Worm Train, Traffic Jam, Galleon-Big Ship, Trampoline, Inflatables, Bumper Cars, Miami Crazy Fire and Crazy Frog. They cost QR15.
For the daring, there are Booster and Disco rides outside the venue and cost QR20.
Children also enjoyed Snow World which is new this year.
It features simulated snow flakes spewed in the area which included pine trees, providing a new experience for children used to living in a hot climate.
In addition, video, redemption and skills games as well as inflatable games and soft play can also be found in the venue.
A section for Qatari heritage and architecture, a theatre where shows are regularly staged and a food court where a variety of cuisine is served also feature at the one-stop-shop city.
Meanwhile, events at major locations across the country continued yesterday.
They comprise fireworks display at Katara; free shows at malls featuring a variety of acts; mosque and zoo tours; Al Furjan show at Qatar National Theatre; Qatar Air Sports Committees’ aerial tours; The Pearl Qatar Eid Festival and Kids’ Festival at Aqua Park.
The Monte Carlo Circus at Qatar Sports Club attracted large crowds during its two shows yesterday.
While the Souq Waqif music festival and Museum of Islamic Art tours kicked off yesterday, field training at Qatar Shooting and Archery Association and Sheikh Faisal bin Qassim Al Thani museum tours start tomorrow.
