MoI to host National Day quiz contest

DOHA: The Qatar National Day Celebrations Organising Committee in association with the Ministry of Interior (MoI) will be hosting a mega quiz and cultural performance competition for the students of expatriate schools operating in Qatar on December 14 from 3.30pm to 9.30pm at Ahmed bin Hanbal School, beside Crowne Plaza hotel, which a release issued by the MoI said yesterday.

The organisers of the event aim to educate the students including the expatriate community about Qatar’s history, customs and traditions. 

The programme will be themed on 'Cultural Performance Competition for School Students', 'Qatar's past, present and future', 'Quiz Competition for School Students and General Public' on the founder of Qatar and its past and general knowledge on Qatar and 'Security and Safety Awareness Film Show'. 

The cultural performance competition will be focussed on the lifestyle of Qataris in the olden days such as fishing, diving for pearls, pearl trading and old Qatar and modern Qatar. The first three prize winners of the 'Cultural Performance Competition' will get QR10,000, QR5,000 and QR3,000 and the winners of the Quiz competition, which is open for all who attend the programme will get valuable prizes. 

In addition, the organisers will support the schools financially for making preparations for the performance and all participating schools will get trophies.

In the closing ceremony, the officials from the organising committee will announce the winners and will watch the performance of first, second and third prize winners.

The public are invited to watch and performance competition and to attend the quiz which will provide a deep insight into the history of Qatar and the organising committee has allocated about 50 valuable prizes for the winners in the quiz and another 50 prizes for the general public who will be selected through a draw.
