DOHA: The lower criminal court will resume hearing of a murder case involving two Indians on February 19.
Details of the case suggest that the two were colleagues and worked in a construction company. On the day of the incident, in August 2011, they were drinking in their apartment when they got involved in a heated argument over some issue.
Soon, there was a brawl and one of them got a knife and stabbed the other. The man who was attacked managed to snatch the knife from the attacker and instead hit him, stabbing him till he died.
Hearing screams coming in from the apartment, neighbours rushed and banged the door. They later told the court they had to slam the door open when nobody responded to their knocks.
The man was arrested, and after investigation and filing the charges, the matter was referred to court by the prosecution.
The accused told the court he attacked the victim in self-defence as he had no choice other than stabbing him to save his own life.
Neighbours, all South Asians, told the court as witnesses that when they entered the apartment they saw one of them lying in a pool of blood, perhaps dead, while the other — the accused — was injured.
