Dancers practicing for the event
Doha: In a mega dance show, 100 people will perform Mohiniyattam, a traditional dance form from Kerala on Saturday, April 13.
The performance is the highlight of the cultural event being organised for the inauguration of Malayali Samajam, a non-profit, cultural organisation of expat Malayali or Kerala community in Qatar.
Legendary Malayalam poet Prof Madhusudhanan Nair will be the chief guest for the event being held at Holiday Inn. Nair is an Indian poet and critic of Malayalam literature, best known for Naranathu Bhranthan, the poem with the most number of editions in Malayalam literature.
The Mohiniyattam dance will be conducted by Dr RLV Ramakrishnan, brother of late popular Kerala artist Kalabhavan Mani.
Entry to the cultural programme is through registration and passes have been issued to about 1,000 members, said one of the committee members.
