DOHA: Green Trade Project Office (GTPO), the international trade promotion arm at Taiwan’s Ministry of Economic Affairs (Taiwan), yesterday announced that it has thousands of eco-friendly (green) building products to meet Qatar’s growing appetite for adopting green technology and environment-friendly products and solutions.
The Far Eastern island nation has developed a new line of eco-friendly (green) building products, hailed day one of Project Qatar 2016 a success in the run-up to an exciting day two. International guests from around the Gulf and abroad visited Taiwan’s companies, exploring the latest environmentally conscious products for potential use in Qatar’s building and irrigation infrastructure.
“We at GTPO, being a government agency, represent over 600 manufactures producing all kinds of ‘green products’ and offering a wide-range of eco-friendly solutions”, George Hu, (pictured) the Marketing Director at GTPO told The Peninsula yesterday.
George, speaking on the sidelines of the product launch, added: “We have an array of green products encompassing PV (photovoltaic) to LED and from green building materials to energy saving equipment and appliances.”
He said that Qatar is a relatively foreign market for Taiwanese companies but they are very optimistic about it given Qatar’s firm commitment towards implying environment-friendly technology and green building materials to achieve the goal of sustainable development.
He further said that although GTPO has come to Qatar for the first time, but it is trying to bridge the communication gap through different channels, including local and international media and other supporting agencies.
“We are also trying to hold deeper talks with different stakeholders, including government agencies to understand the needs and requirements of Qatar. In this regard, we have some idea about Qatari government’s huge investment plans on infrastructure development in the run-up to the preparations for hosting the 2022 Fifa World Cup,” George added. “I want to assure that Taiwanese companies can offer some of the best solutions. Our companies are known for two things. One, manufacturing efficiency, and second, price competitiveness.”
He also stressed that when it comes to meeting Qatar’s high quality standards and price competitiveness, Taiwan’s products are well positioned to surpass the benchmark.
Qatari and international visitors from around the world saw Taiwan’s eco-friendly building and irrigation products on display at the Project Qatar exhibition at Doha Exhibition and Convention Center.
Taiwan’s group of eco-friendly companies are on display until May 12 at booth D121 in what is billed the Taiwan Green Product “Demo House.” The booth features a wide array of room and insulating materials that help protect commercial and residential buildings from Qatar’s heat whilst preserving the environment.
