Doha: The Qatari Forum for Authors hosted a panel discussion by Turkish writer Aisha Gul Kara Zorluwa entitled ‘Intellectuals in Doha’, on the importance of employing cultural exchange and media communication as two main means of promoting cultural diplomacy of states.

The meeting was moderated by the writer Hessa Al Suwaidi and posted on the forum’s YouTube channel.

It discussed integrating all categories, ages and trends in light of cultural events that unify known  moral values, the dynamism of cultural communication between peoples through the reformulation of needs of the new audiences and the changes that may occur to them.

It also touched on the importance of emphasising the civil, societal and political rights of the child, as well as social and cultural upbringing.
During the panel, the Turkish writer reviewed her most important literary achievements, represented by the novel Shakrak and a series of books under the same title, and the novel Mulberry Tree.

She explained that the Shakrak work is a unique cartoon character that aims to achieve the convergence of cultures, provide awareness and advice, and carry a message of goodness and peace.

It brings children closer to books through the cartoon character that motivates them to read and brings them closer to the world of books.

She stressed that she cares about children with special needs in particular, providing content about the relationship between friends.

The panel discussion was organised by the Qatari Forum for Authors in cooperation with Kon consulting company.

Through these events, the forum aims to build bridges of communication between intellectuals around the world, cooperate with them and benefit from different experiences.
