DOHA: The Peninsula has published its style guide, becoming the first English daily in the region to transform its style sheet into a book.
The guide was prepared by the editorial staff and contains the standards in the English language, design, style and format followed by the newspaper.
“This guide will be useful to journalism students and media professionals working in this region. For example, you will learn that the Emir of Qatar Sheikh Hamad bin
Khalifa Al Thani is addressed as His Highness while the ruler of Bahrain takes the title ‘His Majesty’.
“We believe that style is not only about language, but also social and cultural correctness,” says the introduction of The Peninsula Style.
Copies of the 141-page guide have been distributed among journalism students at Qatar University and other students and journalists in the country.
