DOHA: The Qatar Red Crescent Society (QRCS) announced today, February 13, that the second volunteer medical team is heading to Syria to perform complex surgical operations for the injured earthquake survivors.
QRCS said that the team consisting of 13 volunteer doctors has arrived in Turkey heading towards northern Syria. These doctors deal with a variety of surgical and medical specialties and have high expertise in dealing with complex cases.
The second medical team joins the first team of 8 doctors who are currently performing delicate surgeries in northern Syria hospitals.
The 7.8 magnitude earthquake and its aftershocks struck southeastern Turkey and northern Syria on February 6. The death toll so far has surpassed 35,000.
