Doha: The Cultural Village Foundation, Katara has concluded the ninth edition of the Senyar Festival at Katara Beach. The winners were awarded yesterday.
Katara General Manager, Prof. Dr. Khalid bin Ibrahim Al Sulaiti awarded the first 15 winners of the Haddaq and Lifah competitions. The event started on May 9 and saw the participation of 58 teams and 697 participants, including 64 from GCC countries and 47 residents of Qatar.
“The Senyar Festival is one of the most prominent festivals of a marine nature held by Katara. This is due to its importance in encouraging Qatari youth to revive our ancient heritage. This year was its ninth edition after it was suspended for the past two years due to COVID-19 pandemic,” said Al Sulaiti in his speech.
The team of Suhail and its captain Hamad Ali Al Tamimi won the first place and a prize of QR700,000. Statistics of the ninth edition of the Senyar Festival in the two tournaments of Haddaq and Lifah competitions were as follows: The total weight of the Shaari fish is 2,923.80 kg; the number of hammer fish is 425; the number of king fish 76; the number of pigeons, rabies, jish, and curry fish is 339; number of Al Faskr fish is one; number of housing fish is 12; number of besar fish is 227; number of reef fish is 25; and the number of mutawa fish is 96.
The weight of the largest fish was 15.10kg and it was of the type of king fish.
The contestants expressed their happiness at participating in this edition, as it was an atmosphere full of enthusiasm and challenge, praising the efforts of the organising committee for the facilities it provided, including the new mechanism adopted in arbitration.
