DOHA: The fourth World Innovation Summit for Education (WISE) will begin today at the Qatar National Convention Centre under the theme ‘Collaborating for Change’ and will look at how different collaborations can become the driving force for innovation in education.
This year the second day of the summit is considered highly important as H H Sheikha Moza bint Nasser will launch a new global initiative to bring high quality education to the hardest to reach 61 million primary school age children who are denied a basic education, 28 million of whom are in conflict zones worldwide.
The summit will today award an individual or a team in recognition of an outstanding contribution to education with the WISE prize for education for the second year.
The 2012 WISE Book, “Learning a Living: Radical Innovation in Education for Work,” that explores the relationship between education and the world of work, will be presented to the participants today.
The Annual WISE Awards will be given to six innovative education projects on the second day of the summit.
The three-day summit will gather 1,000 prominent education, corporate, political and social leaders from over 100 countries, with a large representation form the Arab countries.
On the first day the opening plenary session will be on the summit’s theme ‘Collaborating for Change’ with politicians, cooperate sector and representatives of Unesco. This will be followed by the thematic plenary session on ‘Educating for Our Times.’
On the third day the summit will examine forms of effective and practical collaboration in designing the future of education and the plenary sessions will be held on ‘Building a Learning World.’ The Peninsula
