Doha: Qatar Football Association (QFA) President Sheikh Hamad bin Khalifa bin Ahmed Al Thani met US Ambassador Dana Shell Smith and discussed issues of mutual interest, particularly those related to football and means of enhancing relations to better serve the football sector in Qatar and the US.
Sheikh Hamad highlighted relations between football federations in both countries, exchange of expertise and constant communication. The ambassador congratulated him on Qatar’s victory in the 22nd Gulf Cup recently held in Saudi Arabia, wishing further progress for the Qatari football sector which, she said, is reaping rewards of QFA leadership’s professional planning.
She also hailed Qatar’s role in sports, noting that Doha has become one of the most significant sports cities in the world which underlines Qatar’s ability to host 2022 World Cup. QNA
