DOHA: The committee supervising preparations for the forthcoming Central Municipal Council (CMC) elections has called on all potential Qatari voters to register their names through Metrash 2, the mobile application of the Ministry of Interior.
All Qatari men and women who are eligible to vote have been urged to register as early as possible, as the committee plans to finalise the first voters list by next month, Al Sharq reported. Elections to the Council are scheduled for May next year.
Citizens who had registered in the previous elections are required to reregister, due to a restructuring of the constituencies, the daily said quoting a senior official of the committee. Some constituencies have been merged with others while some have been expanded adding new localities. Metrash 2 provides an easy and fast option for the voters to register their names, he added.
After registration, the citizens are required to visit the authorized registration centres and produce proof for their residency, identification, locality among other personal details, said the daily.
