DOHA: Reach Out To Asia (ROTA), in partnership with Qatar Foundation (QF) member Msheireb Properties, recently organised a leadership training programme for youth in Qatar.
ROTA Youth Challenges supports QF’s mission to create future leaders by encouraging them to develop their abilities at local, regional and international levels.
Essa Al Mannai, Executive Director of ROTA, said, “The aim of this initiative is to empower the youth and help them in their careers to be the ambassadors of Qatar in the future. We recognise the importance of creating a new generation to represent Qatar at international and regional forums. This project also supports the Ministry of Youth and Sports’ strategy through youth empowerment.”
Eng Abdulla Hassan Al Mehshadi, CEO of Msheireb Properties, said, “At Msheireb Properties we aim to partner with organisations like ROTA which are helping to mobilise the youth of the country through programmes such as ROTA Youth Challenges.
“We believe that developing the capabilities, expertise and skills of the young people of Qatar is critical to realising the country’s full potential. This training supports Qatar’s development goals and vision to build a knowledge-based society. We look forward to seeing innovative ideas borne out of this initiative that address the current and future needs of our community.”
The programme aims to train 45 young men and women between 16 to 26 years, on key leadership skills. The initiative began in November 2013 and will continue until March 2015. Participants were divided into six groups for developing innovative project ideas that would serve Qatari society.
They got the chance to participate in ROTA’s highly anticipated EMPOWER Conference in 2015.
