DOHA: The travel industry has reported 12 to 15 percent increase in the number of people travelling from Qatar to Brazil this season spurred by the FIFA World Cup in Sao Paulo.
Quoting a senior official of the travel agents committee at the Qatar Chamber, a local Arabic daily reported yesterday that a number of Qatari businessmen had obtained visas to travel to Brazil.
The easy procedures to obtain an entry visa to Brazil and the availability of direct flights from Doha to Sao Paulo have further boosted this trend, said the daily. One travel agent has put the growth in the number of travellers at 15 percent.
Travel agencies have come out with attractive tour packages to cash in on the increased interest among citizens in the World Cup. They are available at prices ranging from QR9,000 to QR12,000 which many citizens consider affordable, said the daily.
