Doha, Qatar: The Ministry of Education and Higher Education has officially launched the Student Activity Centres for Summer 2025, a nationwide initiative running from July 13 to August 7, 2025, designed to provide Qatari and resident students with a rich, engaging educational and recreational experience during the summer break.

Open to students aged 6 to 18 from public schools (both citizens and residents) and Qatari students enrolled in private schools, the programme will be hosted across eight centres strategically located throughout the country — four for boys and four for girls. These centres aim to create a balanced environment that fosters skill development, character building, and the reinforcement of civic responsibility.

The programme is rooted in the Ministry’s vision to make productive use of students’ free time through diverse, high-quality activities that meet their psychological, social, and educational needs in a safe and welcoming setting.

Held Sunday through Thursday from 9am to 1pm, the centres offer a comprehensive range of activities, including educational, cultural, artistic, sports, and technology-based programmes. These are guided by an integrated educational philosophy focused on promoting creative thinking and innovation, developing leadership and life skills and strengthening national identity and social awareness among others. This year’s curriculum is specially designed to address contemporary and future-facing themes, such as moral education, cultural enrichment, digital solutions, artificial intelligence, cybersecurity, arts and design, as well as public health, sustainability, and environmental awareness.

The centres are supported by a wide network of government entities, national institutions, educational and cultural centres, and civil society organisations.

Centre Locations: Boys’ Centres: Omar Bin Al Khattab Secondary School, Khalifa Secondary School, Al Wakra Secondary School, Abdullah Bin Ali Al-Musnad Preparatory School

Girls’ Centres: Umm Salama Primary School, Amina Bint Wahb Secondary School, Sawda Bint Zam’ah Preparatory School, Al Khor Preparatory School

This year’s edition includes new specialised programmes and innovative initiatives, such as cybersecurity and facility protection awareness religious lectures to strengthen Islamic values, workshops on public speaking, leadership, and volunteerism and creative arts, science, and technology training sessions

A highlight of the programme is the launch of the “School Innovation Incubators” initiative, developed in collaboration with the Ministry of Sports and Youth and the Qatar Scientific Club. These incubators will offer students access to interactive learning environments equipped with advanced technologies, allowing them to transform innovative ideas into tangible projects. Students will receive training in robotics, 3D printing, and entrepreneurship.

Field trips are also planned to various cultural and national institutions, including the National Museum of Qatar, Qatar Media Corporation, the Equestrian Club, and the General Directorate of Coasts and Borders Security, helping students connect learning with real-world experiences.

The programme will conclude with a celebratory event at Lusail Hall, featuring a student activity exhibition, final football tournament matches, and an honour ceremony for participants, in the presence of senior officials and partner organizations. A special video presentation will document the programme’s impact on student development.
