DOHA: A tower in posh Al Dafna area of the city was recently sold for a record QR490m, at QR200,000 per square metre.
Real estate transactions rose to a record high of QR1.5bn in the week from September 28 to October 2 after a protracted lull.
According to details released by the Real Estate Registration Department at the Ministry of Justice, another high-profile deal was for a house admeasuring 1,763sqm in Bin Mahmood in Doha that was sold for QR83m, at QR47,000 per sqm.
A total of 171 deals worth QR1.49bn was concluded in the week compared to 157 in the week before (September 21 to 25) and the total value was QR831.6m.
Some eight plots admeasuring 658 sqm were sold in Al Asmakh locality of the city, each for QR20m.
A huge plot in Al Gharrafa suburb (admeasuring over 10,000sqm) was sold for QR80m. In expatriate-dominated Najma, a 771sqm house was sold for QR30m.
In Al Waab in Al Rayyan, a 6,400sqm plot was sold for QR45.5m.
Other deals involved smaller houses and small plots for housing during the week.
