National Day: 70 buses arranged

DOHA: The National Day celebrations organising committee has arranged 70 buses to transport people to various locations on the Corniche where the events will take place.
Visitors can board the buses from dedicated car parking areas near Post office, Qatar Sports Club, Qatar Petroleum building and Souq Waqif.
All entry points for vehicles to the celebration site will be closed from morning and people will be transported by special buses, a local Arabic daily quoted Brigader Ali Salman Al Muhannadi, head of the security committee for the National Day celebrations as saying.
No private vehicles will be allowed in the area particularly during the military parade. The parade will start from Ministry of Information intersection and end at Emiri Diwan intersection. The closure will continue until all the vehicles and equipment used in the parade will be removed.
Seven information centres have been set up for inquires. The afternoon events will start at 5pm and continue until midnight. Security forces including traffic police will be deployed along the Corniche to maintain order and security.
 

No chances of rain on Thursday, says Met

DOHA: The Department of Meteorology has said there are no chances of rain on Thursday (National Day). The weather will be partly cloudy and in outside areas it could be a little dusty on Thursday said the Department issuing forecast for three days beginning tomorrow. Day temperatures will be up to 23 degrees C on all the three days while the night will be cold on Friday at some places as the minimum temperature forecast is 11 degrees C. However, tomorrow there are chances of scattered rains and the minimum temperature could fall to 15 degrees C. On Thursday, the minimum temperature likely is 13 degrees C. 


Largest Qatari flag made from sand on show today

DOHA: The largest Qatari flag made from sand will be unveiled at the Sealine beach this afternoon in the presence of senior Qatari officials. There are 150 students working on the flag being carved out from one of the sand dunes in Sealine. A group of Qatari youth floated the innovative idea as a tribute to their country on the occasion of National Day. The flag is made of sand mixed with water and other environment-friendly material stretching an area of 2,400 sqm, reported a local Arabic daily.
