DOHA: Qatar Airways will add four new services to Salalah, Oman's second largest city, by next February to take its flights per week to the vibrant tourist destination to eight, the airline announced Tuesday.

Effective today, Qatar Airways is offering three additional flights per week, and from February 3, another additional flight per week will be introduced to make it even easier and more convenient for passengers to visit the city.

Qatar Airways commenced services to Salalah in May last year, its second destination in Oman after the capital city, Muscat. With Muscat already served 28 times-a-week and Salalah four-times-a-week, the additional flights to Salalah will take Qatar Airways' capacity across Oman to a total of 36 weekly services.

Qatar Airways Group Chief Executive Akbar Al Baker said the launch of additional Salalah flights demonstrated the carrier's strong regional network with many flight scheduling options to choose from.

"We are extremely delighted to announce the increase in flights to the popular leisure destination of Salalah that has a tremendous appeal for visitors across the Gulf, Europe, the United States and other countries.

"Thousands of tourists already visit Salalah every year, and we look forward to contributing to help further boost leisure and business tourism while providing travellers from Oman with greater choice and more flying options," Al Baker said.

With the additional flights, Salalah will now have four early morning departures connecting via Doha to Europe and the Americas and four early evening departures connecting to flights in the Asia Pacific region. A mix of morning and evening flights means convenient connections for passengers from Salalah to key markets in the Qatar Airways' route network of 146 destinations. (QNA)
