Qatar stocks close lower

DOHA: Qatar Stock Exchange index retreated back into the red zone Tuesday when it closed 402.69 points lower (3.51 percent) at 11,057.33 points.

The traded value dropped QR 929.42 million from QR 1.008 billion registered Monday.

The traded volume declined 20,269,876 shares from 8,192 transaction compared to to 25,206,756 shares from 11,034 transactions on Monday.

The market capitalization fell to QR 611.96 billion from QR 633.99 billion registered Monday.

Except insurance (0.36 percent), indices of all sectors ended in the red zone today.

Telecommunications index fell the most, down 5.63 percent followed by industries (5.32 percent), real estate (5.04 percent), consumer goods (5.01 percent), transport (4.91 percent), banks and financial (1.63 percent).

From the 43 listed companies on QSE, shares of 41 exchanged hands today. From these, 34 fell while five advanced and two remained unchanged. (QNA)
