SAK Qatar crowned champions of 2-day sport extravaganza

Cultural Forum’s two-day sports extravaganza ‘Expats SportEv 2020’ concluded with a colourful cultural fiesta followed by the prize distribution ceremony at Qatar Sports Club (QSC).
The massive sports event, which was participated by 13 community teams under four categories, was the largest event organised by the expatriate Indian community in Qatar on the occasion of Qatar National Sport Day. 
Over 3,000 people gathered at QSC to witness the concluding and prize distribution ceremony and they were treated to mesmerizing cultural and musical performances by prominent local artists and children. 
The event was attended by prominent Qatari dignitaries including Nasser Fadol Al Salahi Al Yafiee, Public Relations Manager at Hamad Medical Corporation, and Muna Fadel Al Sulaiti, Executive Director for Volunteer and Local Community Development, Qatar Red Crescent Society, as well as Indian community leaders and sponsors of the event. 
Expats SportEv 2020, held under the patronage of the Qatar Sports for All (QSFA) federation at the Ministry of Culture and Sports, took off at QSC officially on February 7, 2020 with a spectacular march past attended by over 1500 participants from 15 teams. 
Sports Association of Kerala (SAK) won the overall championship in the fiercely contested sports meet, with Calicut Sports Club bagging the first runner-up position and Youth Association for Arts and Sports (YAAS) finishing as the second runner up. In the women’s category, SAK won the overall championship, with YAAS and Youth Forum winning the first and second runners-up positions respectively. 
Different individual championships were won by Aswin A (YAAS) in the Men’s Category A (20-29 years), Kannan Chemban and  Saril (Calicut Sports Club) in the Men’s Category B (above 30 years), Shajudeen (SAK) in the Men’s Catorgy C (above 40 years) and Amritha (YAAS) in the Women’s category. The best disciplined team trophy was won by Syro Malabar Cultural Association (SMCA) and the best team manager’s prize was bagged by Nizar of United Nurses India Qatar (UNIQ). 
Dr. Taj Aluva, President of Cultural Forum, delivered the presidential address at the closing ceremony which was also addressed by Muna Fadel Al Sulaiti, Executive Director for Volunteer and Local Community Development, Qatar Red Crescent Society.  
Nasser Fadol Al Salahi Al Yafiee, Public Relations Manager at Hamad Medical Corporation; Massimiliano Montanari, Executive Director of Save the Dream Foundation; Jishna Mohan, prominent Indian high jumper; Sahfeeq Kabeer, founder and CEO of Azym Technologies; Hari Subrahmani, General Manager ISUZU Jaidah Group; Shanib Shamsudeen, Operations Manager of City Exchange; Muhammed Ali Saithukunj, Managing Director of Seashore Group; Faisal Kunnath, Director of Al Dana Switchgear; Niyas TA, General Manager of Auto Fast Track Trading; officials and representatives of different sponsors of the event, and Cultural Forum office-bearers gave away trophies and medals to winners of the different competitions. —The Peninsula
