MoI ready for National Day activities

DOHA: Expatriates are expected to take part in National Day activities this year in a big way. 
Preparations have been completed for “Associated Activities of Qatar National Day Celebrations 2014” that will see a range of activities involving different expatriate communities, the Ministry of Interior said in a statement yesterday.
Under the theme ‘One Love’, events will reflect the strong bond between Qataris and expatriates.
The programmes will take place at West End Park amphitheatre and Cricket Stadium in Industrial Area, Al Wakra, Al Khor and Rayyan sports clubs on National Day from 8am to 10pm. 
Events are sponsored by prominent companies and establishments in the country. 
The Supreme Committee for Delivery and Legacy is the platinum sponsor and Qatar Primary Materials Company (QPMC) silver sponsor. Qatar National Bank and Qatar Steel have sponsored the cricket tournament in West End Park while Doha Bank and Al Jaber Engineering are its associate sponsors. 
The West End Park in the Industrial Area will have programmes by Indian and Sri Lankan community, Al Wakra Sports Club will witness shows by the Pakistani and Bangladesh communities, Rayyan Sports Club will have programmes by the Filipino, Indonesian and Malaysian communities while Al Khor stadium will host performances by the Nepalese community and residents of Al Khor. 
At West End Park, Ideal Indian School, Sri Lankan School, Pak Shama and Scholars International Schools will participate in cultural competitions such as parades, thematic shows and songs.
Pakistan Education Centre, Bangladesh MHM School, Bhavan’s Public School, Shantiniketan and TNG Pakistani school will hold events in Al Wakra Sports Stadium, while Philippines School Doha, Philippines International School Qatar, Noble Indian School and Doha Modern Indian School will participate in activities at Rayyan Sports Club. 
At Al Khor Sports Club, MES Indian School, Bright Future Pakistani International School, DPS Modern Indian School, Birla Public School and National KG will participate in celebrations with programmes and competitions. 
The West End Park cricket stadium will host a six-nation tourney between Qatar, India, Pakistan, Bangladesh, Sri Lanka and Nepal community teams.
A tug-of-war and running race will be conducted in all venues along with football matches in Al Wakra, Al Khor and Al Rayyan stadiums. 
The four venues will witness 102 shows by students from 17 schools and 180 performances by nine community teams. 
The organizing committee has invited all to watch and enjoy the programmes.
There will be special areas for families, gifts for the public through raffle draws and free blood pressure and sugar check-ups by the Supreme Council of Health, Aster Medical Centre, Naseem Al Rabeeh, KIMS Medical Center and Life Line Medical Center.
