DOHA: Qatar Red Crescent (QRC) participated in a charitable exhibition organised by Lusail Independent Model School for students, teachers and parents.
The event over two weeks was an initiative from the school management, reflecting its belief in the mission of Qatari non-profit organisations and its interest in educating young children on their humanitarian roles.
Organisers wanted children to grow up with a positive spirit to donate and volunteer for social and charitable activities.
The QRC corner included photos of its humanitarian action, health education and fundraising publications, and models of clothes and tools used by relief and medical staff.
It had corners for reading and colouring to provide new information to students in an interactive and creative manner that suits their age and mind.
The exhibition ended with a lecture ‘Relief and Help of the Needy’ by Dr Hassan Mostafa Al Bairoumi, health research and member of QRC’s Risk Reduction Management.
He spoke about QRC’s mission and relief activities to help the distressed and save lives. Gifts were distributed to students and teachers who donated to QRC.
Dr Al Bairoumi and Dr Nesrin Yahia, Psychological Support Coordinator, QRC Relief and International Development Department, received an honorary shield from the school for disseminating Qatari values among the young generation. “The expo  was proposed by the early childhood department to highlight solidarity and support to everyone locally and internationally,” said Loloa Al Mohannadi, Owner and Manager of the school.
