701 benefit from QRC training

DOHA: ‘I Am a Paramedic’ programme of Qatar Red Crescent’s (QRC) Al Khor branch has so far served 701 beneficiaries in schools, cultural centres, and social organisations in Al Shamal.
Launched in September, the community training programme plans to cover 19 Supreme Education Council (SEC) schools in Al Shamal during the academic year, with QR1m funding from Ras Laffan Community Outreach Programme (COP).
The programme targets students from the sixth primary grade through the third secondary grade, teachers, administrative staff and bus supervisors. Lectures and training are held on first aid basics and how to deal with injuries. QRC organised two four-day training courses for 18 teachers of Al Khor Model Kindergarten for Boys. They received theoretical and practical training in first aid techniques for different injuries of young students and how to provide psychological support for the injured and their families.
It also trained 54 teachers at Al Khor Primary School for Girls, 16 at Al Thakhira Model School for Boys, 32 at Al Khor Primary School, and 22 at Al Khor Model School.
Fifteen first aid trainers were qualified to work under the programme.
The programme trained 30 students in the sixth grade at Al Khor Model School for Boys, 75 at Al Zubarah Primary, Preparatory and Secondary School for Boys, 14 at Al Ghashamiya Primary School for Boys, 25 at Al Jumaliyah Independent School for Boys, 75 at Smaismah Independent Primary School for Boys, 49 students and four QRC school programme members at Abdullah bin Ali Al Musnad Preparatory School for Boys, 21 students at Al Thakhira Model School for Boys, 42 students at Abdullah bin Ali Al-Musnad Secondary School for Boys, and 64 students in sixth grade at Al Khor Model School for Boys.
The programme covered 19 students of Al Thakhira Primary School for Girls and 25 of Al Khor Primary School for Girls. Eight bus supervisors were trained at Al Thakhira Model School for Boys. Forty-nine members of Al Khor Girl Centre and 15 of Scout and Guide Association of Qatar were also trained.
