DOHA: Demand for real estate was down in the second week of this month, having peaked at a record high a little earlier.
Most transactions in the week (June 8-12) involved small plots of land meant for housing, with deals totalling QR888.19m ($244m).
Of 145 transactions, 102 involved small plots admeasuring from 124 to 900 to 1,200sqm.
A house built over an area of 124sqm was sold in Bin Omran locality of Doha for QR2.5m (at the rate of QR20,161 per sqm).
Similarly, a 237sqm house in the same locality was sold for QR2.2m, at the rate of QR9,282 per sqm.
In Najma, a house of 258sqm was sold for QR3.2m.
Such plots were sold in large numbers in many localities, including Al Dhaeen, Al Shamal, Al Wukair, Al Khartiyat, Umm Salal and Al Qaran.
The biggest deal involved a 4,536sqm of plot in Al Azizya in Al Rayan, figures released by the Real Estate Registration Department at the Ministry of Justice show.
