Jammu: Indian and Pakistani troops traded gunfire yesterday on the Line of Control after the Pakistanis violated the 2003 ceasefire in Jammu and Kashmir, an official said.
“The Pakistan Army fired at our positions using small arms and automatic weapons in Hamirpur area (in Rajouri district),” military spokesman Colonel Manish Mehta said.
The Pakistan firing started at 8.30. “Our troops retaliated with similar calibre weapons,” he said.
The spokesman said no casualty or damage had been reported on the Indian side.
In a separate incident, Pakistan Rangers fired at the Border Security Force on the international border in R S Pura area of Jammu district.
