DOHA: Maersk Oil Qatar (MOQ) has once again been recognised for its continued commitment to supporting the nation’s Qatarisation strategy as the winner of the Crystal Award for ‘Supporting Qatarisation’ at the annual Qatarisation Review Meeting of the Energy and Industry Sector’s Strategic Qatarisation Plan.
The high-profile event was attended by senior industry officials including H E Dr Mohammed bin Saleh Al Sada, Minister of Energy and Industry, Saad Sherida Al Kaabi, President and CEO of Qatar Petroleum and Sheikh Faisal bin Fahad Al Thani, Deputy Managing Director of MOQ, who accepted the award for MOQ.
Al Thani said: “We are extremely proud to receive this award as a testament to our tireless focus on Qatarisation and in recognition for our successful efforts to attract and develop the leaders and specialists that will unlock the potential of Qatar’s national resources for generations to come.”
In close partnership with Qatar Petroleum, MOQ operates the Al Shaheen field, Qatar’s largest offshore oilfield development. In 2014, the company launched a new Qatarisation Strategy focused not only on attracting Qatari nationals, particularly to offshore roles, but critically to develop leadership capacity, via mentoring and bespoke training courses and through provision of further educational opportunities, such as MBAs.
MOQ has made since made firm progress, not only reaching, but exceeding many of its targets with Qatari nationals making up 30% of MOQ’s employeesof which 11 percent are in leadership positions.

These include working with the education sector to promote an understanding of the oil and gas industry and to encourage Qatar’s youth to study STEM (Science, Technology, Engineering and Mathematics) disciplines.
