Qatari striker Akram Afif officially signed the contract with Villarreal CF today.
The teenage forward will become the first player from Qatar to play in La Liga and the Champions League.
Villarreal finished fourth in the La Liga this season and is set to play in Champions League.
Akram Afif was earlier playing for Al Sadd, the Doha team for which former Barcelona great Xavi Hernandez plays.
Akram Afif will be officially presented as a new player of Villarreal CF on Thursday. The event will be held in the press room of the Sports City from 11.30 am and will be attended by the CEO of Villlarreal CF, Fernando Roig Negueroles.
Akram Afif is expected to play a few minutes in the friendly on Thursday in Novelda (8:30 pm, Campo La Magdalena) in a match that will serve as a tribute to Mario.
